Atlanta Novelist Appears on Three Best Seller Lists

ATLANTA -- Carolyn Ridder Aspenson's debut novel, Unfinished Business, made it onto three Amazon best seller lists on September 19. The book first appeared on the Paranormal Romance list, Fantasy & Futuristic Romance list, and Women's Fictions list at #34, #43, and #83 respectively. It peaked at #13, #16, and #54 on September 20, and was still at #36 on the Paranormal Romance list and #46 on the Fantasy & Futuristic Romance Saturday morning.

The urban fantasy has been described as paranormal chick-lit because of its breezy tone and enjoyable humor. Chicklit Plus said of the novel, "What a fantastic read! I couldn't put it down! I had to keep reading just to see what twist life was going throw out at Angela next!"

Joe Cool Review said, "I laughed and I cried...and laughed...and cried...throughout the entire book! This book was so real (yes even with the heroine seeing her mother's ghost) and the emotion in it will stay with me for a long, long time!"

Caroline Fardig, bestselling author of It's Just a Little Crush, said, "The author has a great sense of humor, even about death, but when the story called for it, she was reverent and empathetic in the way her characters handled each other."

Aspenson is a freelance writer and a columnist for Northside Woman Magazine. She wrote her first novel shortly after her mother died. Aspenson has said that she "felt the need to let the world know a little about the woman who drove her absolutely crazy but loved her with an intensity unknown to normal people."

A native of Indiana, Carolyn called the northwest Chicago suburbs home for over eighteen years but because she hates the way snow sounds when she walks on it, has spent the last sixteen living in the Atlanta suburbs with her husband, son, two dogs and a cat. Her two daughters live close by.

Unfinished Business Blurb

ANGELA PANTHER HAS A PERFECT LIFE: A lovely home, an attentive, successful husband, two reasonably behaved children, a devoted dog and a lot of coffee and cupcakes. But while her life might border on mundane, she's got it under control. Until her mother, Fran dies-and returns as a ghost. It seems Fran's got some unfinished business and she's determined to get it done.

Now Fran's got some nifty celestial superpowers and isn't opposed to using them to levy a little ghostly retribution on her granddaughter's frienemies and even her own daughter, which doesn't make Angela happy.

While Angela's shocked and grateful to have her mother back, she's not thrilled about the portal to the afterlife Fran opened upon her return. Now every ghost in town is knockin' on Angela's psychic door, looking for help-and it's a royal pain in the butt.

Now Angela's got to find a way to balance her family life with her new gift and keep her mother in line. And it's a lot for one woman to handle.

Carolyn Ridder Aspenson tackles, with comic cleverness, the serious subjects of mother-daughter relationships, death and raising teenagers in this smart, funny take on the love of family and the uncontrollable paths our lives take.
