BATON ROUGE, La. -- During the week of September 23-27, 2013, the 2BRokeGuys, LSU Campus Life and the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank are partnering to raise awareness, and funds to combat hunger in our city for Hunger Action Month.
Many people in our community go hungry every day. The #GeauxforBRoke event will encourage people in those in the 225 area to understand this hardship by eating on $2.25 a day for five days. This means each participant will only have $11.25 as his/her food allowance for the work week. Participants are then encouraged to donate their usual weekly food allowance to the food bank. The goal of this event is for the community to take a step past awareness and into action. The 2BRokeGuys are asking participants to share their experiences via social media.
In addition, there will be collection bins around the city, and LSU’s campus leading up to the flagship’s annual event, CANapalooza in October.
At the end of the weeklong event, there will be a wrap-up party at The Pelican House on September 28, beginning at 2:00p.m. for the LSU vs. Georgia football game. The event’s theme is called “Orange is the new BRoke” and encourages everyone to come dressed in complete orange attire. For more information on this life-changing event, please visit www.geauxforbroke.org or contact Josh Howard at (225) 247-3343.
