BANGALORE, India -- Vasant Valley, Delhi (co-ed), the Valley School, Bangalore (day-cum-boarding), Modern High School, Kolkata (all-girls) and Campion School, Mumbai (all-boys) are ranked India’s most admired Day Schools in the latest national pan-India league tables of EducationWorldIndia School Rankings 2013 released in Bangalore.
Rishi Valley School, Chittoor (co-ed), Welham Girls, Dehradun (all-girls), and The Doon School, Dehradun (all-boys) were ranked No.1 in the traditional/legacy Boarding Schools category.
Dhirubhai Ambani International, Mumbai (day), Indus International, Bangalore (day-cum-boarding) and Kodaikanal International School (fully residential) were voted No.1 in the International Schools category.
A total of 5,779 fees-paying parents, teachers, principals and educationists across the country were interviewed by field researchers of the well-reputed market reseach and opinion polls company Centre for Forecasting Pvt. Ltd (C fore), Delhi to rate and rank 593 of the country’s most well-known day, 75 boarding and 57 international primary-secondary schools.
“Respondents were asked to rate schools of whom they were aware on a ten-point scale – except for the vital parameter of ‘competence of faculty’ which is given double weightage -- against 14 parameters of education excellence. The scores awarded by respondents to schools under each parameter were multiplied by ten, rounded off and totalled for ranking schools in each sub-category,” says Premchand Palety, chief executive of C fore, explaining the rating and ranking methodology of the Educationworld India School Rankings 2013.
Apart from pan-India, state, city and parameters league tables, for the first time EW India School Rankings includes Top 100 rankings of Council of India School Certificate Examination (CISCE) affiliated schools according to students’ achievement in the council’s ISC 2013 examination. Welham Girls, Dehradun, Lakshmi Model School, Madurai and Garden High, Kolkata were top-ranked (English + best 3 subjects). In the category English + PCM (physics, chemistry, mathematics) Sishya, Chennai, Cathedral & John Connon, Mumbai and Welham Girls are ranked the top three. City Montessori, Gomti Nagar, Lucknow; Lilavati Podar High, Mumbai, and Modern High Girls, Kolkata recorded the largest number of students scoring 90 percent plus in 1SC 2013.
