From scores to special sound effects, from Halloween stalkers to Star Trek, Alan Howarth's electronic imagination has contributed to some of the biggest genre films of the '80s. Alternately wearing the hats of both composer and sound effects man, Howarth has collaborated with John Carpenter on the music from nearly all of his movies starting with Escape from New York; he's provided sound design and effects for Poltergeist, Raiders of the Lost Ark, all the Star Trek movies, The Hunt for Red October, Coppola's Dracula, Total Recall, and Stargate, among others. As a composer, he's scored all or part of all the Halloween films, composed music for Retribution, The Dentist, and others.

“My collaboration with Alan Howarth has happily continued and deepened since our first meeting on "Escape from New York". I feel Alan and I reached a new level of complexity on our score for "Big Trouble in Little China"(1986), and the musical soundtrack from "Prince of Darkness", which you hold in your hands, is another offering in what I call "midi-depth". John Carpenter – Director

Describing Howarth’s music in the Thirteen WNET New York, Riff City wrote, "Having composed scores for Halloween, Escape from New York, and a slew of other John Carpenter flicks, Alan Howarth may be the consummate '80s boogeyman”.

While this night is designed to peak all of your senses, it is also developed to advance an excellent cause. A portion of the evening’s proceeds will benefit Dream Power Therapeutic Equestrian Center.
