Tamiko Lowry Continues to Empower Victims to Become Survivors with upcoming Purple Affair

ATLANTA, GA (September 2013) On October 5th 2013, a diverse and philanthropic group of Atlanta media, business professionals, and social gatherers will assemble to pledge their generosity and ongoing support to a worthy cause at the 2013 Still Standing & Steppin Out, Purple Affair – a benefit event that honors survivors of Domestic Violence.

Known for her vibrant personality and passionate commitment to domestic abuse awareness and survivors’ development, Tamiko Lowry—founder of the rapidly growing non-profit organization, The Still Standing Foundation— has increased her efforts to affect change in the lives of women and families who have become displaced due to abuse by providing food, clothes, and other resources needed for survival.

“I am delighted to add to the rising spirit of social responsibility that should characterize our country and culture now more than ever,” said Lowry. “My purpose is clear and my spirit is strong. The feeling of self-worth and liberation from my own chains that I experienced propels me to forge ahead to be the key that unlock others.

”It is this unrelenting vision that awarded Lowry the prestigious 2012 Celebration of Gospel Rising Star Award in September 2012 over a group of other well-known and well-deserving nominees. The award is given to individuals who have shown considerable strides in community involvement and improvement.

Riding the waves of last years vastly successful and generously sponsored Purple Affair, Lowry has planned this year’s event to be yet another night to remember. The event will feature a collage of entertainment that will include dinner, special guest artists, a deejay, silent auction and an unprecedented fashion show in which survivors of abuse will rip the runway.

With Lowry’s unbridled creativity and unlimited faith, she hopes to bring a new dimension to philanthropy and given purpose.
