LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- The event is designed to highlight training and employment opportunities for Veterans, and provide face to face contact with potential employers. Major companies, like Skanska and Southern California Edison, as well as Veterans’ resource agencies, are supporting this event as a way to showcase their products and services, and highlight potential career options for returning Veterans.
The event will include Life Skills Training Workshops, job preparation and communication skills, as well as DD214 online registration assistance, if needed. Interview opportunities with potential employers for Veterans and their spouses, as well as the Second Annual Book Bag Drive, to provide school supplies for Veterans’ children, will ensure value for the entire family.
Of special interest for Veterans as well as the companies seeking their services will be the launch of the Global Veterans Assistance Exchange portal – a unique new service available online to match the skills and abilities of Veterans seeking employment with the companies that need their services. This new resource will allow for:
· Pre-posting of qualifications in preparation for release date
· Access to national employer opportunities
· Visibility for Veterans with major national employers
· Access for employers to Veterans and also Women and Minority candidates
· Participation by a number of Veterans’ Support organizations as sponsors
· Access to tracking of Local / State / Federal Regulations, to encourage employer compliance
The event is open to the public, and companies wishing to participate may do so by contacting the Veterans Advocacy Group of America for further information.
