About the Movie:

"Return to Babylon", a black and white silent film set in 1920s Hollywood starring Jennifer Tilly, Maria Conchita Alonso, Tippi Hedren, Debi Mazar and Ione Skye screens at Maxwell DeMille's Cicada Club on Sunday, August 11. The film's producer and director Alex Monty Canawati hosts with many of the film's stars scheduled to attend.

The plot: scandal, crime and intrigue take place during the silent movie era in 1920s Hollywood involving some of the most famous stars of the day, including Rudolph Valentino, Clara Bow, Gloria Swanson, Norma Talmadge, Lupe Velez, Fatty Arbuckle, William Desmond Taylor and others.

The filming features locations in and around Hollywood, including the original Rudolph Valentino and Norma Talmadge estates and at the "Magic Castle" in the Hollywood Hills. The film was shot using 19 rolls of film that the director found sitting on the sidewalk on Hollywood Boulevard in Hollywood, California. Shooting was performed using original hand-cranked movie cameras.

Following the screening the Cicada Club hosts a spectacular Roaring Twenties Dance Party! Dine and dance to music by Dean Mora's California Poppies 1920s Dance Band.

With the grandeur of a classic Hollywood musical from the thirties, Maxwell DeMille's Cicada Club is a most unique experience that transports you back in time to the glamorous days of Hollywood's golden age of nightclubs.

Situated in the famed Art Deco Oviatt building, downtown Los Angeles' historic Lalique palace, Maxwell DeMille's Cicada Club is a place fitting for experiencing an elegant romantic evening.

About the band:

Since 1994, Dean Mora has presented hot jazz and swing classics with the same dedication to authenticity and musicianship that has earned him high praise among record critics and music fans alike from around the world. His band features American popular dance music from the 1920s and early 1930s, using period arrangements and transcriptions from the original recordings. Mr. Mora's music is heard every day at Disneyland's Main Street USA as well as the Buena Vista Street area of Disney California Adventure.
