School Governance in the UK Needs Parents Interest

UXBRIDGE, U.K. -- All the schools in the United Kingdom have School Governors, as important a role to fill as those of the teachers, parents and the School Human Resources Cooperative.

The role of school governors is to set strategic direction, to hold school leaders to account for improving performance, and to make sure money is well spent.

IF IT IS GOVERNMENT, IT IS BEAUROCRATIC, IT IS PROTRACTED

The UK Government Department of Education, as is the instance with many departments, this Department, perhaps due to dalliance is always involved with reform and reform. Perhaps they should decentralise as with School HR cooperative jobs.

Their own latest 2013 website contains a section with information relevant to all governors. An additional section contains information that is specific only to governors in 'maintained schools'. A sub section to that contains Information for governors in academies (including special academies, free schools, studio schools, alternative provision academies and university technical colleges). May they perhaps stop shredding the school system into dislocated yet similar fragments and direct all the effort to the growth and improvement of what is proven, just a question?

Apart from that the Government also has a 'Memorandum' to the Parliamentary Education Committee setting out its policies on school governance, how much is duplicate or different we have not researched.

However it seems, at least they have most bases covered and have other sources for information on the subject on the National College website as well as the Governor Line.

FOLLOW THE LEAD OF SCHOOLS HUMAN RESOURCES – PRIVATISE

As mentioned above, the governance of schools are indeed in need of more enthusiastic involvement of parents (qualified non-parents are very welcome to enquire) who should leave the critical side lines and get directly and constructively involved with what is best for the youth of our historically rich country. It may have become a cliché through over utilisation, but it remains the truth forever, 'The Youth is our Future' and so will their children one day be, look out for them.

Are you interested in volunteering? Have you ever wondered how you can change, help and improve the education system? Perhaps you have a child and you want to play more of a part in their schooling, or you may want to find a way to give something back to your community? You may also become directly involved with teacher assistants' training, which is such an important vacuum and needs attention.

Every school in the UK has a governing body which is responsible for its strategic management. This involves setting aims and objectives, allocating budgets, appointing senior members of staff and monitoring the school's progress. School governors ensure that schools are accountable to the public they serve and help them move forward at a time when they are encouraged to be autonomous

Governors are people from every type of background helping education in different ways, the people that have a passion for making a change in their local community, the people who become the "unsung heroes of the education system. We're the people..."

SGOSS is the school governor recruitment charity. Their vision is for every school to have a diverse and effective governing body driving school improvement, as do the Schools HR Cooperative. URL: https://www.schoolshrcooperative.co.uk/
