TORONTO, Canada -- National Academy of Osteopathy has added a new postgraduate program in pedorthics to its curriculum. The Diploma in Pedorthics is available only to licensed health professionals such as osteopathic manual practitioners as a postgraduate program. This is a campus based program with classes on campus, internship in a pedorthic clinic and workshops in an orthtics manufacturing lab.
The program is 2000 hours, 1 year full time or 2 years part time. Tuition is $8,500.
The program prepares students to dispense custom made foot orthotics and orthopaedic shoes. And it teaches them how to manufacture custom made foot orthotics as well as how to modify shoes to make them orthopaedic.
NAO’s Diploma in Pedorthics is accepted by the College of Certified Pedorthists of Ontario (CCPO). The College of Certified Pedorthists of Ontario (CCPO) which is established by the pedorthic profession, is the self regulatory body for the profession of pedorthics in Ontario. The College regulates and ensures the ongoing improvement of the practice of certified pedorthists to protect and serve the public interest. This means the College protects patients’ rights to safe, competent and ethical care by certified pedorthists to maintain the standards of practice of the profession and by holding them accountable for their conduct and practice.
