SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Summertime Publications has acquired the North American rights to the YA novel TITA by Marie Houzelle in a two-book deal. Tita will be published in English in January 2014.
TITA
Set in the late 1950s in a small town in southern France, Tita tells the story of an intensely devout seven-year-old girl whose precocity and independence threaten to make her a freak.
Originally written for adults in English, the French TITA is coming-of-age or Bildungsroman novel which will appeal to young adult readers. The young heroine's powers of observation and humor recall Scout in To Kill a Mockingbird.
INLAWS
Thibaut and his wife, whose marriage seems an equal partnership, are obliged to eat each Sunday with Thibaut’s parents in that most stifling of all rituals, the French Sunday Lunch.
