Connecticut is going to the dogs! The Wigglebutt Wedding between Dexter James Bryant and Zoe Elizabeth Sorensen is a “fun-draising” celebration and magical evening to assist Life’s Little Paws Cocker Spaniel Rescue as they continue to save dogs’ lives and help them on their journey to forever homes.
Parents of the happy “pup-ple” will host an invitation-only gala red carpet affair on Friday, June 28, 2013, at the Baldwin Center in Stratford, Connecticut.
What started out as an idea to have a small backyard wedding to raise funds for Life’s Little Paws Cocker Spaniel Rescue, who incidentally rescued the bride the day she was scheduled to be euthanized, has evolved into a full-scale dog-friendly formal affair being covered by media, resplendent with sponsors and ripe with celebrities in the dog world. With 120 guests in attendance, the Wigglebutt Wedding is a celebration of saving dogs’ lives. The bride has gone from death’s door to princess style wedding and will be whisked off her paws by her handsome, groom, Dexter.
“Dogs inspire me, and this is our way of giving back,” mother of the groom and pet industry specialist, Carol Bryant, said. “Every dollar counts and every wag is because someone cared enough to make it happen. These days, you need to be creative about fundraising, and a dog wedding certainly qualifies.”
Sponsors have stepped up to lend a hand and donate their time, services, and goods in support of the Wigglebutt Wedding. Canine couturier Anthony Rubio custom designed the bride and groom’s apparel, and Spoiled Pup Boutique hand-crafted tuxes and gowns for the bridal party of 10 dogs. Caterer and mother of the bride, Val Sorensen of Kiss-the-Chef-Catering, will be providing the delicacies for all guests.
The canine couple commissioned artist extraordinaire, Missy Johnson of Dogs For the Paws, to create the official logo and designs. Official photography will be provided by Luminaria Photography, well known for their attention to detail in pet and wedding photography. Plenty of dogs will be in high fashion, with Pawvogue as a Gold sponsor.
Spinning the tunes for the evening is Touch of Class DJ (http://www.touchofclassdj.com/), Mike Guariglia, who reports this is his first dog wedding. Adding to the sparkle and elegance of the evening, Table Art Event Designs will display a custom life-size replica floral art sculpture of the bride and groom in exacting detail. Topping the Bubba Rose dog wedding cake will be custom made creations of the bride and groom from Miniature Dog Artist, Lucy Maloney.
Guests of the wedding will be lodging at the Homewood Suites by Hilton Stratford so that they may engage in a professional networking breakfast and private photo shoot on Saturday, June 29th. Paul Nathan, who recently released the book Couture Dogs of New York, will be photographing wedding guests for his next book. While enjoying their weekend of wags and fun, dogs will be wearing a Sony Dog Harness with wearable point-of-view camera—the Action Cam for a dog’s eye view of the festivities.
