Additionally, he served as co-founder, chief operating officer and general counsel of Lotus United LLC in the Jiangsu Province of China for the preceding 12 years. During this period, he successfully transformed the company from a start-up into a thriving enterprise that continues to prosper today.
Prior to these roles, Mr. Chaney contributed as vice president of operations and general counsel at Gaohuo Display Fixture Co. Ltd., Store Kraft Manufacturing in Shanghai from 2004 to 2005. His legal career began in Auburn, Nebraska, where he practiced as an attorney and counselor at law and held the position of vice president, director of market development and general counsel at D & C International Inc.
In addition to his legal practice, Mr. Chaney has contributed to academia as an adjunct professor at the University of Nebraska Omaha and Peru State College from 1992 to 2001. Preceding his civilian career, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1979 to 1983.
Academically, Mr. Chaney's background is extended and diverse. He holds a Juris Doctor from the University of Nebraska College of Law, obtained in 1996, and also pursued doctoral coursework in history at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. His educational foundation includes a Master of Arts in history from Baylor University, completed in 1991, and a Bachelor of Arts in political science and history from Vanguard University of Southern California, earned in 1989. Enhancing his credentials is a certification in leadership and management from Wharton Online.
Furthering his competence in his field, Mr. Chaney is affiliated with the Association of Attorney-Mediators, the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts, the Texas Bar College, the State Bar of Texas and the San Antonio Bar Association. He is also an accomplished author, with publications including "Advice for My Children: How to Build Wealth, A Step-by-Step Guide," published by Covenant Books in 2019. His scholarly contributions also include several biographical entries for the American National Biography published by Oxford University Press in 1999 and an article titled "Pitfalls and Imperatives: Applying the Lessons of Nuremberg to the Yugoslav War Crimes Trials," featured in both the Dickinson Journal of International Law and Penn State International Law Review in 1995.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Mr. Chaney is actively involved in civic activities, contributing as a pro bono mediator for the Bexar County Dispute Resolution Center.
