Lakshmi Prasad Bhatta Celebrated for Continued Excellence in the Automotive Industry

TROY, MI, February 03, 2025 - Lakshmi Prasad Bhatta has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. At Mahindra, he spearheads efforts to simulate real-world crash scenarios using advanced mathematical tools, addressing complex physics challenges to ensure the safety of vehicle occupants and vulnerable road users. His pivotal contributions include ensuring battery safety in electric vehicles (EVs) and advancing company's safety standards through virtual validation of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and Autonomous Driving Systems (ADS) using Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML).

Before joining Mahindra, Mr. Bhatta served as a CAE Advanced Senior Engineer at Stellantis (formerly FIAT Chrysler Automobiles) from 2016 to 2021. He also held the position of Design Responsible Manager for vehicle safety at Stellantis India from 2010 to 2016. During his tenure at Stellantis, he contributed to several award-winning vehicle programs such as the Jeep Cherokee, Jeep Grand Commander, and RAM 1500. He was instrumental in developing safety systems for electric vehicles (EV), such as Jeep Grand Commander PHEV and RAM 1500 BEV and REV (Range Extender). His contributions ensured the integrity of high-voltage systems in crash scenarios, protecting vehicle occupants and advanced EV safety.

Guided by his early vision to enhance road safety, in 2012 Mr. Bhatta proposed implementing Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) systems at Stellantis, influencing global safety strategies. His efforts contributed to vehicles receiving IIHS Top Safety Pick+ awards and 5-star ratings under New Car Assessment Programs (NCAP) across multiple regions, including the USA, Europe, China, Brazil, and Australia.

Mr. Bhatta's earlier roles from 2004 to 2010 include positions at Magna Steyr, Tata Technologies, and Mahindra where he worked on projects for brands like Audi, BMW, Jeep, and Chrysler. His extensive international experience has established him as a versatile expert in vehicle safety engineering.

Beyond his professional roles, Mr. Bhatta is an esteemed member of the United States Technical Advisory Group (USTAG) Committee, contributing to ISO standards for Safety Impact Testing and AI. He also serves as a panelist at the World Congress Experience (WCX) and a technical paper reviewer for the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE).

Educationally, Mr. Bhatta completed a postgraduate program in AI and ML from The University of Texas at Austin in 2021. He earned a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering with specialization in Automobile from the University of Mumbai in 2004, a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Andhra University in 2002, and a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from the Andhra Pradesh State Board of Technical Education and Training in 1998.

Mr. Bhatta's career is deeply rooted in his passion for road safety, inspired by his father's work in road transportation sector and his own early exposure to traffic challenges. Witnessing the impact of road accidents firsthand motivated him to dedicate his career to advancing automotive safety, earning him numerous awards and recognitions for his leadership and innovative contributions.

In addition to his professional endeavors, Mr. Bhatta volunteers with organizations such as FCA Motor Citizens, CSR Life, Forgotten Harvest, and Green Plantation programs. He also serves as a judge for robotics competitions organized by For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology (FIRST) and mentors students pursuing STEM fields.

In his personal life, he enjoys traveling with his family, exploring national parks, and engaging in outdoor activities such as playing cricket and tennis.
