Robert J. Bennett Celebrated for Dedication to the Field of Community Planning and Development

PARKVILLE, MO, January 29, 2025 - Bob Bennett has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

An accomplished manager, strategic planner, and operations executive with years of military and public sector expertise, Mr. Bennett excels as the chair of the Cities Today Institute, which specializes in city convening, research, training, and mentoring activities. Through his work with the organization, he assists community leaders in designing and implementing policies that better society. He was named the Civic Technology Chairperson of the Year for his dedication to the company by CEO Magazine in 2022. In addition to his work with Cities Today Institute, he is a ward two alderman for the City of Parkville, where he represents 3,000 residents, is a U.S. Global Leadership Coalition's Missouri Advisory Committee member, and is a founder of B2 Civic Solutions. As principal of B2 Civic, a civic technology consultancy, Mr. Bennett collaborates with commercial and public sector clients regarding technology selections that will best assist them.

During the early stages of his career, Mr. Bennett gained valuable professional expertise as the chief innovation officer for Kansas City, Missouri. Dedicated to his country, he also served in the U.S. Army as a lieutenant major, operations executive, educator, and chief of operations for the Army in Africa. Before entering the military, he earned a Bachelor of Science in military history from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1991. Subsequently, Mr. Bennett received a Master of Arts in public communication from American University and a Master of Military Arts and Sciences in strategic studies from the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College's School for Advanced Military Studies.

In conjunction with his work, Mr. Bennett aligns himself with GridMatrix, a cloud-based software platform specializing in transportation data, and the local Veterans of Foreign Wars chapter. Likewise, he contributes to his community as vice president of public affairs for the Greater Kansas City chapter of the Association of the United States Army.

Over the years, Mr. Bennett has earned four Meritorious Service Medals and two Bronze Stars for his dedication to the U.S. Army. As a civilian, he received the Edison Award and was honored in the Top 25 Doers, Dreamers, and Drivers by GovTech. While his career has been filled with highlights, he takes the most pride in balancing important work and family responsibilities. Though hard work and dedication have brought him far in his career, he credits his success to surrounding himself with people smarter than him. Looking forward, Mr. Bennett intends to travel more with his wife.
