A retired law enforcement officer with more than 30 years of expertise at the local and federal levels, Mr. Piro channels years of expertise into his work as the president and chief executive officer of Piro Global Services, which provides investigative, intelligence, and security consulting services. Previously, he worked for the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in many different positions. Between 1999 and his retirement in 2022, he worked as a special agent in charge, assistant director of the International Operations Division, deputy assistant director of the Weapons of Mass Destruction Directorate, director of the high-value interrogation group, and assistant special agent in charge with the Washington Field Office's Counterterrorism branch. Likewise, Mr. Piro gained valuable expertise in the Counterterrorism Division, Washington's Joint Terrorism Task Force, the Saddam Hussein Interrogation Team, and the Elite Counterterrorism Rapid Deployment Team.
During the early stages of his career, Mr. Piro worked as a criminal investigator for the Stanislaus County District Attorney's Office and a police officer in the Ceres Police Department. Over the years, he has achieved much, executing a multi-million dollar annual budget for the Miami Field Office, building relationships with foreign law enforcement and intelligence partners, and serving as the team leader and interrogator for the FBI team that oversaw the interrogation of Saddam Hussein. Similarly, Mr. Piro was the criminal investigator assigned to the Stanislaus County Drug Enforcement Agency.
An expert in his field, Mr. Piro earned a Bachelor of Arts in criminal justice from Chapman University in 1997. Subsequently, he expanded his professional knowledge by completing a Master of Arts in security studies focusing on international security and a master's certificate in Arab studies from Georgetown University. He contributes to his community through his church in conjunction with his work. Additionally, Mr. Piro leverages his considerable expertise as a motivational speaker, sharing his insights on leadership, team building, and more.
Due to his vast breadth of knowledge, Mr. Piro was featured on 60 Minutes in 2006. Throughout his career, he has received numerous awards through the FBI, including a Meritorious Achievement Medal for Saving a Life and the Director's Award for Excellence. He also received a National Intelligence Medal for Achievement from the Director of National Intelligence, a Blue Shield Award through the Anti-Defamation League, two Combat Theater Awards, and the Police Officer of the Year Award. While his career has been filled with highlights, Mr. Piro takes the most pride in coming to the United States from war-torn Lebanon to serve in the FBI, one of the premier law enforcement agencies in the world.
Though hard work and dedication have brought him far in his career, Mr. Piro credits his success to his father, his role model and hero, and his mentors throughout his life.
