His extensive career spans several decades and includes significant positions in both the private and public sectors.
Prior to his current role, Mr. Robinson was a senior associate in risk and accounting advisory services at Cherry Bekaert from 2022 to 2023. Before that, he served as a compliance manager at OneMain Financial from 2021 until 2022 and at Mashreq Bank from 2019 to 2020. He further honed his leadership capabilities during his tenure as a managing partner at The Global Enterprise Corporate Solutions LLC between 2017 and 2019. From 2014 until 2017, he was a senior manager in risk, information security and compliance solutions at SunGard.
Mr. Robinson's career also includes significant roles such as senior risk consultant and regulatory advisor at KPMG US from 2011 to 2014 and bank examiner at the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation between 2008 and 2011. He held the position of senior vice president and community reinvestment act officer at City National Bank from 2003 until 2007. Additionally, he was the president and chief executive officer of Pasadena Development Corporation between 2000 and 2003 and the director of community reinvestment at Life Bank from 1999 to 2000.
In academia, Mr. Robinson served as an adjunct professor at Chapman University for two decades, from 1992 until 2012, earning a certificate of service during his tenure. His earlier career included roles such as director of finance for Riverside Community College District from 1997 to 1998 and chief financial officer of Riverside County Federal Credit Union between 1994 and 1997. He began his professional journey as a bank examiner for the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency from 1992 until 1994 and as a finance officer for the Central Intelligence Agency from 1987 to 1992.
Mr. Robinson's service in the United States Army between 1985 and 1987 equipped him with strong values that would guide him in his career. His dedication and service earned him commendation medals, achievement medals and the Army Good Conduct Medal.
Mr. Robinson's academic background also helped lay the groundwork for his professional success. He earned a Bachelor of Science in business administration from Washington Adventist University in 1989, followed by a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in business and finance from Averett University, which he obtained in 1991. He attributes much of his success to his father, a former marine who provided consistent support and mentorship throughout his life.
