Marquis Who's Who Honors Liz Holland for Expertise in the Field of Design

EL CERRITO, CA, January 19, 2025 - Liz Holland has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Ms. Holland is the owner, chief executive officer, designer and inventor at Sensory Product Design LLC (a.k.a. SPD), a role she has embraced since 2017. In this capacity, she connects with every aspect of her business, from conceptualization to execution. She is adept at identifying her limitations and strategically hires skilled professionals to complement her areas of expertise. When she was diagnosed with Sensory Processing Disorder (also SPD) in her early 50's she realized that she had been making things her whole life just to live in her particularly delicate, sensory overwhelmed body. With her diagnosis, she also became aware that there was very little help for adults with SPD. Not only was there next to nothing available from books or the internet, there certainly weren't any products that are specifically designed to help adults soothe their senses. Flash forward almost 10 years, the bulk of resources available for adults with SPD is still quite low. Even with quite a bit of popularity of "self-care" the only products that can be found for adults are almost exclusively skincare, fragrances and/or make-up. No actual products that soothe the senses. This is how Sensory Product Design and her life's work became a reality, becoming the ONLY design firm that addresses proprietary products specifically to help all people notice they're nervous system and have products/tools that can instantly help users to feel settled, safe and feel completely warm from head to toe.

Prior to founding Sensory Product Design LLC, Ms. Holland was the owner of Design Paradigm from 2000 to 2017. Between 2008 and 2010, she served as a regional sales manager and designer at GreenHeart Global, a "green" industrial design firm. Her innovative spirit flourished as the head designer for Prince Tennis from 2004 to 2008, where she made significant contributions that led to a doubling of the company's market share and becoming #1 in the industry for performance racquets. Earlier in her career, she honed her design skills as a senior designer at Ernst and Young LLP from 1994 to 2000. Perhaps her greatest influence was being raised by a very successful inventor/engineer/entrepreneur Edward "Ted" Holland, who held over 100 patents and was dubbed the "forefather of the automatic warehousing systems". Though she lost her father at the age of 20, his influence can be felt every single day, and most notably, as she too, has become the "fore-parent" of an industry - the "soothing senses industry". Just as she has taken for granted how her inventing brain is solving problems 24/7, so is her approach to leading an industry. With her childhood and background, taking on a whole new industry was something that "had to be done" rather than something to shy away from. She is recognized as an expert in helping adults with sensory processing disorders, demonstrating her deep understanding of human-centered design.

Her professional affiliations include membership in the Industrial Design Society of America, which further underscores her commitment to excellence in industrial/product design. Ms. Holland's academic background laid the foundation for her career. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in industrial design, metalsmithing and jewelry design from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia in 1985. Additionally, she has obtained certifications in industrial and product design from InventRight. Ms. Holland attributes her success to her exceptional problem-solving skills and keen attention to detail. Her sensitivity to sensory stimuli has been both a personal challenge and a professional asset, as someone that notices every single detail of products, she has found that makes her a very good designer/inventor which has enabled her to develop innovative products that address sensory and nervous system needs. While her products can help those with SPD, they are truly for anyone that has a nervous system. We ALL get triggered, we all have events that affect us deeply. Holland's desire/challenge to the world is to simple notice what's going on in your nervous system. Most people don't and even if they do notice it, they assume it is what it is. She asks, "What if? What if we had CHOICE? What if we could develop tools to bring our nervous system down when we are triggered? Would that be a really good thing?" She like to say it's her little mediation that you can literally do in your sleep! She has heard from customers over and over that it has been a "game-changer" for them and so much better than they expected. That feedback is music to her ears!

Outside of her professional endeavors, Ms. Holland is actively involved in various extracurricular activities and associations that reflect her commitment to giving back to the community. She supports initiatives such as Buy One Get One for Military Veterans and Healing Through Love, that helps women escaping abuse and contributes to the Star Institute, and other individuals that are helping adults and children with SPD and those that are neuro-divergent in a variety of ways.

In addition to her professional pursuits and community involvement, Ms. Holland enjoys personal activities that reflect her interests. She finds joy in playing tennis, a sport she has been passionate about since childhood. She even stepped in for a few years to coach the local high school's tennis team. This leisure activity not only provides balance but also serves as a source of inspiration for Ms. Holland's creative endeavors.
