As the AR HW process development and integration engineering lead at Meta since 2019, he has demonstrated exceptional expertise in his domain. His role involves overseeing forecast integration engineering; conducting trials across South Korea, Japan, Taiwan and China; and addressing component issues. His daily routine is centered around finding innovative solutions to enhance user experiences.
Prior to his current position, Mr. Lee served as the engineering director in AR/VR optic process and material at Huawei Technologies from 2017 to 2019. During this time, he played a pivotal role in advancing AR and VR technologies, contributing significantly to the development of cutting-edge processes and materials. From 2015 until 2017, he was a senior display and process engineer at Microsoft, where he honed his skills in display technology and process engineering.
Mr. Lee's career also includes a tenure as a senior panel process engineer with the panel process and optics group at Apple between 2013 and 2015, during which time he was instrumental in developing innovative panel processes that enhanced the company's product offerings. Before joining Apple, he worked as a senior engineer at Cambrios Technologies from 2007 to 2013, where he contributed to advancements in nanotechnology for electronic devices. His early career saw him as a senior staff of engineering at iFire Technology from 2000 until 2007 and as a technology and engineering manager at Samsung Display between 1991 and 1998.
Laying the groundwork for Mr. Lee's accomplishments in engineering and technology was his academic background, inclusive of a bachelor's degree in engineering from Yeungnam University in South Korea, which he earned in 1991. He attributes much of his success to his proactive personality and commitment to preparing for challenges, traits that have been crucial in navigating his professional journey.
In addition to his career endeavors, Mr. Lee has made significant contributions through civic associations. He has been involved with feeding local children since 2010 and has served as a volunteer moderator for the Korea Engineering & Consulting Association. This dedication to community service complements his professional accolades, which include several awards from Samsung and engineering awards from iFire Technology.
Looking ahead, Mr. Lee remains driven by an ambitious vision to fully develop augmented reality eyewear for public launch. Inspired by the enthusiastic response to the iPad mini, he recognizes the importance of customer engagement in shaping innovative products.
