Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

With a wealth of professional and military experience, VADM Brown has excelled as the vice chair of the board of directors at Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri. Her journey began as an Officer in the United States Navy in 1974, a role she held until her retirement in 2009. Her first assignment was at the Naval Communications Station in Norfolk, Virginia, and she went on to serve in Washington, D.C., Illinois, and Japan. Notably, she returned to the United States to serve with the Joint Tactical Command, Control, and Communications Agency and as the executive officer at the Naval Communications Station in San Diego.

Over the years, VADM Brown also leveraged her considerable expertise with the Naval Computer and Telecommunications Station in Maine, the National Security Council at the White House, and the White House Military Office, where she served as deputy director. After the tum of the century, she dedicated herself to Space, Information Warfare, Command and Control, and the North American Aerospace Defense Command. Similarly, VADM Brown became the first multi-national force Iraq C6 headquartered in Baghdad.

VADM Brown's commitment to staying abreast of industry changes is unwavering. She aligns herself with the Armed Forced Communications Electronic Association and the United States Naval Institute, ensuring she remains at the forefront of her field.
