Is your workplace wired for women?

CENTRAL, U.K. -- As a direct response to the latest research into women in the workplace, communications agency theblueballroom has announced an innovative workshop to take place at 6pm on Tuesday 2 July at RADA Studios, called Wiring the Workplace for Women.

Now is the time, given recent evidence (World Economic Forum, Women’s Business Council) showing the disappointing numbers of women in positions of influence or starting businesses, to raise the game on educating businesses and women on what can be achieved through change, and how this can give companies a competitive edge.

Influencers in business – from CEOs to HR directors – are invited to attend the event to hear from Christina Fee, founder of Women at Work, and consultant to organisations such as the BBC, eBay and easyJet, who will showcase the latest thinking on how businesses can really harness the power of women, and what women can do to change the situation. This will be followed by an interactive workshop and networking.

Christina commented recently, in response to Vince Cable’s remark that business culture needn’t change, by saying ‘I find Vince Cable's apparent ambivalence about the need to change the culture of British business surprising, given the vast amount of evidence to the contrary, and my own experience working with large organisations - both in the UK and overseas.

Earlier this year, a report by recruitment firm Harvey Nash, which attracted plenty of media coverage found that "male dominated corporate cultures are the biggest barrier to women reaching the board". Additionally, earlier this year at the World Economic Forum in Davos, it was noted that "Stereotyping and implicit biases continue to impede the advancement of women to top leadership positions in economic decision-making".’ Christina will help delegates understand how, if they tap into the way women work, they can gain a competitive advantage.

thefuturestory runs online and with events, bringing together businesses in a trusting environment so that they can discuss issues and devise a way forward. Award winning integrated communications agency theblueballroom launched the new approach to helping businesses understand and act on new industry trends. With thefuturestory platform the agency aims to help businesses decipher current trends and apply them in practical and strategic terms to their company.

Sheila Parry, MD of theblueballroom describes what led her to create thefuturestory: “The landscape for business shifts every day. Creating a path through this minefield of change, guiding hundreds if not thousands of people behind a vision, forecasting and reforecasting changing customer needs, establishing a voice in a crowded media landscape, maintaining a focus on delivery and yet planning for a challenging future ...

You have to ask - how are industry leaders coping with the multiple insights and the constantly growing volume of data? And, most importantly, how can any of them ever work out what to do about it? This is where thefuturestory comes in, which we hope will help.”
