In conjunction with its belief in encouraging volunteerism among the Jordan’s youth, the Voluntary Initiative Network has launched its 2013 competition titled “Think, Execute, Change.” The purpose of the competition is to create a competitive environment for young adults, as well as encourage them to become entrepreneurs. The competition is supported by several partners such as Queen Rania Center for Entrepreneurship, Takaful for Volunteering and Social Entrepreneurship, International Youth Foundation, United Nations Volunteers, The Higher Council of Youth and Nakhweh.
The competition was organized in March and received more than 400 interested volunteers from around the kingdom. It is worth mentioning that all projects will be subjected to the following stages: registration, execution, evaluation, voting, and then reaching the final forum that will be held on the 22nd of June at the Royal Cultural Place.
A panel of judges reviewed all submitted projects and accepted 151 for the second phase of the competition, 48 of which are currently competing in an online voting contest featured at www.vin2013.com. The top 15 projects that receive the highest ratings will move on to the final stage where a final five projects will be selected and awarded with prizes valued at nearly USD 9,000.
Mrs. Rana Al-Turk, Country Director at the International Youth Foundation stated, ”Our support for such initiatives is part of our goal to motivate young adults in Jordan to become more competitive, helping them reach their full potential and make positive contributions to our society. We wish the winners the best of luck and success in their projects and future”.
Dr. Mohammed Jaber, the chairman of the association stated: “What distinguishes this competition is our concentration on the execution of these initiatives, as our main aim is to encourage the youth to develop their voluntary ideas and efforts and convert them into proper initiatives which will have a positive impact on the society”.
He also added:”We would like to thank the jury and our partners that contributed to support the contest, we look forward for similar successful initiatives that support our society”.
