Careers World Magazine Interview Jessica Ennis
Careers World Magazine are delighted to announce that they will feature an interview with Olympic gold medallist Jessica Ennis!
Something of a first for the country’s largest careers guidance magazine, the interview discusses everything from Jessica’s career and hobbies to her opinions on Apprenticeships and careers guidance.
The next issue of Careers World Magazine is due out in September and brings with it a new look and a different style of content.
The editor of Careers World Magazine, Tom Haymes, explains the magazines change of direction:
“We recognised just how much of an influence famous people can be on the younger generations, so getting some successful people to feature in the magazine seemed like the natural thing to do.
I hope that Jessica can be the first of many inspirational figures we will see on the front cover of the magazine and we thank her for taking the time from what I’m sure is a busy schedule to help us out.”
In the interview Jessica talks about, among other things, her background, her influences on her career and perhaps most prudently her career choices that led her to become a professional athlete.
Jessica Ennis grew up in Sheffield, Yorkshire and undertook athletics from a young age. She has competed all over the world at various competitions before finally taking gold in the heptathlon at last year’s Olympic Games, held in London. She cites her childhood and subsequent life in Sheffield as a huge influence on her life:
“Sheffield has played a key role in shaping me; I was born there, I discovered athletics there, I was educated there and I still choose to live and train there.
I also have a very close family network and I think the combination removed any desire I had to go to university anywhere else.” - Jessica Ennis
