Dancing for Diversification: Macau.com on Macau's Entertainment Trends

Ever since Macau opened up the gaming sector almost a decade ago, both the local Macau government and the Central Chinese government have strongly encouraged further diversification as a goal for the tourism and entertainment industry. Macau.com, the show ticketing hub for Macau, comments on increasing show and events venues in Macau and the growing trend of online bookings.

Carrie Law, Managing Director at Ignite Media Group, parent brand of Macau.com, comments: " More and more visitors are coming for the shows alone. Our online consumers represent a growing premium market.”

“Customers are booking farther in advance by up to 6-8 weeks. This is in addition to last minute impulse purchases that we sometimes see for shows on our site and via mobile; the longer advance purchases mean the consumers are aware that the show is often sold out.” adds Ms Law.

“From our data, we find they’re willing to spend on average HKD$2,500 per transaction, and they’re booking at least 2 nights so they can catch more shows and entertainment. And most of these visitors are coming from Hong Kong, South Korea, Taiwan, Mainland China, and Singapore."

Other perennial big selling event ticket items on Macau.com include the popular Macau Tower skyjump and related activities. Macau.com had also seen an increase since 2012 in major concert and clubbing events at Club Cubic.

Last November, the website was sold out of tickets for a last minute special event with "Gangnam Style" entertainer - Psy. Meanwhile, visitors coming to Macau are also checking out the city’s other entertainment offerings such as Taboo at City of Dreams, Hard Rock Hotel Macau’s annual summer Splash pool parties, and other shows at China Rouge nightclub in Galaxy Macau.

The shows are a key element in the Macau "Things to Do" landscape. You can find it all on Macau.com as the travel leader grows with the market - shows, events and concerts plus hotel deals, casinos, restaurants, spas, shopping guides, and even historical sites.

“It's been great to watch Macau evolving into a world-class city with a growing diversity of arts and culture to offer its visitors,” says Ms Law.
