He is the Founder and Chairman of the Board of Snag-A-Slip, a role he has held since 2015, and is also the Founder and serves on the Board of Directors of Oasis Marinas. He served as the Chief Executive Officer of these organizations for several years before hiring others to fill leadership positions and taking on the Founder's role. He also continues to serve on the board of directors for his entrepreneurial ventures and passion projects.

Mr. Cowens's professional journey began with his service in the United States Army from 1989 to 1997, where he rose through the ranks from enlisted serviceman to Staff Sergeant and later a commissioned officer. During his military service, he transitioned into the corporate world, growing from a valet, as employee 18, to vice president of operations at Towne Park, which grew to over 1,200 locations and 20,000 + employees when Mr. Cowens exited. He launched Oasis Marinas and Snag-A-Slip in 2015. He acquired Marinalife Inc. in 2017 where he was CEO until 2021 before transitioning to a position on the board while working with his entrepreneurial ventures. He attributes his vast professional success to his determination, the support of his family, and his faith.

Mr. Cowens's academic background includes a Master of Business Administration from the University of Maryland's Robert H. Smith School of Business, earned in 2014, and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Salisbury University, completed in 1995. He is a lifelong learner starting his college experience at Anne Arundel Community College and has completed multiple certificate programs with groups like the Stephen R. Covey Leadership Center between 1997 and 2008. He is a fellow with the Birthing of Giants, Princeton.

In addition to his professional roles, Mr. Cowens is actively involved in various organizations and civic institutions. He is an advisory board member of the Perdue School of Business at Salisbury University, the board chair of the Check Foundation, a board member of St. Andrews Day School, a board member of the US Super Yacht Association, and an advisor to fellow entrepreneurs.

In his personal life, Mr. Cowens enjoys spending quality time with his family and friends, working out, and boating. In the upcoming years, he plans to further his contributions by coaching aspiring entrepreneurs, engaging with universities, and potentially authoring a book to share his wealth of experience and insights. He also aims to continue growing his businesses while nurturing meaningful relationships with colleagues and family members.
