ASTORIA, NY, October 22, 2024 - Bernie Crowl, LMHC, has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Mr. Crowl, a licensed mental health counselor, has dedicated his career to providing compassionate and expert care in the field of mental health. With five years of professional experience, he is the founder and licensed mental health counselor at City Mental Health Counseling, where he oversees daily operations, manages billing processes and conducts multiple client sessions each day. His commitment to mental health care is evident in his hands-on approach and dedication to his clients and staff.
Mr. Crowl's career began with a focus on supporting individuals with developmental disabilities. From 2015 to 2018, he served as a treatment coordinator at AHRC New York City, where he developed and implemented treatment plans for residents. He then advanced to the role of residential manager the following year, overseeing residential programs and ensuring quality care for clients.
In 2019, Mr. Crowl joined Care Design NY as a care manager, where he coordinated services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. His exemplary performance led to his promotion to care manager supervisor in 2020, a position he held until 2024. Concurrently, he gained valuable experience as a mental health counselor intern at Mindful Moments in 2021.
Mr. Crowl's expertise in LGBTQ+ care, particularly focusing on the transgender population, was honed during his tenure at Modern Therapy Group from 2021 to 2024. It was during this tenure here that he received his mental health counselor license in 2023. He is very proud of this achievement and of being featured on The Donna Drake Show on CBS in 2024.
Mr. Crowl's academic journey includes earning a Master of Science in education and mental health counseling from St. Bonaventure University in 2021. Additionally, he holds certifications in dialectical behavior therapy, as a certified clinical trauma professional and in Ketamine-assisted psychotherapy to help treat complex PTSD and addiction.
The unwavering support of his husband has been a cornerstone of Mr. Crowl's success. He also credits various training programs for expanding his professional knowledge and skills. His initial work with nonprofit organizations and the tragic loss of a close friend to suicide inspired him to pursue a career in mental health counseling.
In his personal life, Mr. Crowl enjoys playing baseball, attending Broadway shows, traveling to various countries and taking care of his dog and cat. He is also civically involved with New York Cares. Looking ahead, he aims to make affordable and accessible mental health counseling available to everyone across the state of New York.
