Driven to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those around her, Ms. Sayles leverages more than four decades of experience in her work at the United States Department of Defense (DOD). Well-regarded as an expert in information technology, she has found success working in various environments: education, healthcare, commercial, and state and local government. Spending much of her career at Gunter Air Force Base in Alabama, Ms. Sayles began her professional journey as a technical support specialist and programmer in 1983, after which she advanced through a variety of IT roles of increasing seniority and specialization over the next several decades, rising to become a senior business analyst and database specialist/engineer. Though hard work and dedication have brought her far, she credits much of her success to working with individuals from diverse backgrounds and personalities. Additionally, her empathy and compassion for others has allowed her to serve as an effective mentor and support young women in the IT field – especially those within the Black community. Looking toward the future, Ms. Sayles intends to pivot away from her work with the DOD and establish a psychology practice/research/counseling specializing in gerontology, through which she can provide care and support to underserved older populations.

Her greatest accomplishment is her daughter LaQuandra Robinson, who followed in her mother's footsteps in the field of Information Technology and pursued her career in New York.
