DENVER, CO, August 14, 2024 - Jeremy VanHooser has been included in Marquis Who's Who. Mr. VanHooser's life and professional experiences have profoundly shaped his academic journey. As a first-generation student, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Human Services and Nonprofit Organization Administration from Metropolitan State University of Denver (MSU Denver). He then continued his education at Regis University, obtaining a Master of Science in Organizational Leadership. Currently, Mr. VanHooser is pursuing a PhD in Leadership Studies at Gonzaga University.
Inspired to serve and lead others after the Columbine High School tragedy, Mr. VanHooser began his career at Columbine High School before moving to the Eastern Star-Masonic Retirement Center as an administrative and marketing associate. Over the years, he gained valuable expertise in community relations and human services with various organizations, including Renton Area Youth & Family Services, Community College of Denver, Young Nonprofit Professional Network in Puget Sound, and MSU Denver. At MSU Denver, he stared as an intern in the LGBTQ Student Resource Center at Auraria, where he was instrumental in educating others on LGBTQ+ identities and the coming out process, creating ally development training sessions, and organizing "The Day of Noise" events in response to LGBTQ+ violence, bullying, and discrimination.
Throughout his career, Mr. VanHooser has demonstrated expertise in implementing and coordinating diversity and inclusion initiatives, event coordination, and social media management. His roles have included positions with MSU Denver, the re-election campaign for CU Regent Stephen Ludwig, MD Campbell & Associates, and served on the board of Tech4Good Denver. He has also expanded his knowledge in the political arena, serving in various district, county, and state positions, including vice chair of outreach with the Colorado Democratic Party.
Drawing on his extensive experience, Mr. VanHooser engages in consulting services and serves as the Associate Director of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion at MSU Denver. In this role, he oversees university-wide diversity programming, conducts campus climate surveys to assess and address concerns, leads strategic development and planning efforts to align with the school's diversity mission, and collaborates with diverse stakeholders to create an inclusive community.
In recognition of his professional achievements, Mr. VanHooser was honored with the 10 Under 10 Alumni Award from MSU Denver in 2020. Among his career highlights, he takes the most pride in securing the INSIGHT into Diversity Magazine's Higher Education Excellence in Diversity Award for ten consecutive years and obtaining the Seal of Excelencia from the Excelencia in Education organization. Though hard work and dedication have brought him far in his career, he credits his success to the support from mentors, leaders, and family.
