www.freestickyads.com Local businesses, shops and Post Offices have been badly hit over the last few years with many closing their doors for good on a daily basis. Freestickyads.com has been launched to help support local communities and their businesses though it's national network of free to use local noticeboards.
"We believe that by giving local communities a free noticeboard, we encourage them to support their local shops and businesses, which is good for the economy and the environment" says Dan Johnson, co-founder of Freestickyads.
"It's all about local co-operation" Dan continued, "In my community there's a shop run by volunteers, the original shop having closed 10 years ago. Over 90 local people have given their free time to keep it going. The shop buys local produce and supports local businesses, it even works with the local pub, offering discounts on meals at the pub in exchange for customers buying from the shop".
Buying local is certainly good for the environment with the average piece of fruit and veg in the US travels a staggering 1700 miles to get to the dining table. Growing a sustainable local economy requires cooperation from all sectors of the community but the benefits in creating a sense of well-being, the creation of jobs and the sense of community make the effort worthwhile.
"We believe that by encouraging urban and rural communities to work together in mutually supportive ways is good for business and people and we hope that Freestickyads will give them a ready made easy to use free local hub"
Dan concludes, "We are actively promoting local businesses through our social media by making people aware of the quality and variety that is available locally and directing people to local initiatives and support groups".
Businesses can list for free on www.freestickyads.com events like markets and fairs can also advertise for free and people can recycle their unwanted items by selling them or giving them away. There is even a forum so people can discuss what matters to them.
