HARDYSTON, NJ, July 09, 2024 - Kiyoshi Hamada was selected by Marquis Who's Who for a prominent feature in the Northern New Jersey regional edition of Forbes.
Backed by a strong work ethic and an innovative spirit, Mr. Hamada spent nearly 40 years at the Toshiba Corporation and its subsidiaries, contributing greatly to its growth both in Japan and the United States. A pioneer with a vision for the future, Mr. Hamada was integral in introducing, developing and updating the company's computer systems, which gave way to Toshiba's expansion into five subsidiaries in the U.S. For the last 13 years of his career, he excelled as the vice president of information systems for Toshiba America Consumer Products Inc., in Wayne, New Jersey, a role in which he actively managed communications and data exchanges among the other branches and manufacturing plants of the international company through networks and computers.
At the start of his professional journey, Mr. Hamada ventured into the realm of electronics and technology following his college graduation. When he joined the Toshiba Corporation, he was assigned to the Lamp Stamp and Tube Division from 1957 to 1960. He subsequently transitioned to the Staff Overseas Operations of the company for two years before being assigned, along with a colleague, to open the first American office in New York City. Mr. Hamada immigrated to the United States in 1962 to represent the Toshiba brand to a new international audience, serving as a liaison for the company until 1965. He was later promoted to manager, director of electronic data processing and vice president of information systems.
In retirement, Mr. Hamada has established himself as a valued member of his New Jersey community, serving as a trustee of the Sussex County Historical Society for five years. Notably, he created a historic site map of Sussex County, New Jersey. Additionally, he is the author of his life story, "KH in Seven Decades." His book and map are now registered in the Library of Congress. Mr. Hamada is currently an active member of the Rotary Club of Vernon, New Jersey.
Involved with memberships related to his passion for technology, Mr. Hamada maintained affiliations with the Association of Information Technology Professionals, the Japan-U.S. Communications Association, the American Management Association, the Society for Information Management, and the Data Processing Management Association until his retirement.
Mr. Hamada received a Bachelor of Arts in economics from Keio University in Tokyo, Japan, in 1957. He is an alumnus of the Institute for Information Studies at the Aspen Institute.
