Dr. Acacia M. Warren Has Devoted Her Career to Educational Leadership

LOS ANGELES, CA, July 03, 2024 - Acacia M. Warren, EdD, has been included in Marquis Who's Who. From 2018 to 2023, Dr. Warren was a single subject academic coordinator and lecturer at the University of California, Irvine, where she played a pivotal role in shaping academic experiences for future educators. Her journey into higher education began as an adjunct faculty member at California State University, Dominguez Hills, from 2017 to 2018. Prior to that, she had an extensive career with the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) from 2005 until 2017, where she served multiple roles, including as a teacher, a data coach, a Response to Intervention (RTI) expert, a Common Core facilitator, an assistant principal and a district coordinator. She began her career as a teacher with the Oakland Unified School District between 2003 and 2005, teaching in juvenile hall during the summers.

Supplementing her professional roles, Dr. Warren is a published author with notable works, including Project-Based Learning Across the Disciplines: Plan, Manage, and Assess Through +1 Pedagogy and Cognitive Upgrade: An Educator's Guide for Shaping Success, published in 2016 and 2019, respectively. Her dedication to education is also evident in several honors received, most distinguished of which was the Inspirational Teacher Award from the United Way in 2014, establishing her as one of 25 LAUSD Teachers to Watch among 29,000 teachers. In 2023, she was featured in the USC Rossier Magazine for her justice-centered work in prison education, and in 2024, she was selected to represent UCLA in the University of California Women's Initiative for Professional Development (UC WI).

Dr. Warren's career success is supported by her impressive academic achievements. She first earned a bachelor's degree in liberal studies from the University of California, Riverside, in 2001, where she graduated cum laude, followed by a master's degree in education and teaching credential from the University of California, Berkeley, in 2003. She subsequently earned a master's degree in educational administration from California State University, Dominguez Hills, in 2010, and a doctorate in educational leadership from the University of Southern California in 2014 that included a 9-day international education studies tour in China.

Regarding professional development, Dr. Warren will complete a Harvard Online certificate in Strategy Execution for Public Leadership in 2024. She has also received advanced training in adaptive schools and cognitive coaching, a clear administrative services credential, a certification in gifted and talented education, and designations as a project-based learning trainer and a restorative justice trainer. Beyond her professional duties, she is an active member of several industry-related organizations, including the American Educational Research Association, the National Association of Community and Restorative Justice, the International Society for Technology in Education, and the California Council on Teacher Education.
