Marquis Who's Who Honors Charles A. Verenna Jr. for Success in Chemistry Education

Currently serving as a chemistry teacher with the Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth (CTY) program, he has been instrumental in delivering an accelerated advanced placement chemistry curriculum to gifted students across the globe. Mr. Verenna's transition to online teaching during the pandemic showcased his adaptability and led to his current role at Johns Hopkins, where he has been for the past three years. Prior to joining the CTY program, Mr. Verenna honed his skills as a chemistry teacher in various educational settings. Mr. Verenna initially pursued an education at Muhlenberg College in Allentown, Pennsylvania, earning a Bachelor of Science in chemistry, magna cum laude, and a secondary education certification in 1990. He also garnered a master's degree in chemistry education from DeSales University in 1997. Mr. Verenna's mother's work ethic and emphasis on education have been pivotal to his accomplishments and continue to influence his teaching philosophy today.

Mr. Verenna was named as a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society through Muhlenberg College. In light of his success, Mr. Verenna was recognized with an American Chemical Society Award for the highest chemistry average during his college years in 1990. He was also included in Who's Who Among America's High School Teachers. Furthermore, Mr. Verenna was fortunate to receive a grant from the Parkland Education Association.
