Victor "Vic" Joseph Maggitti Jr. Shines as the Owner of Vimco

BERWYN, PA, March 13, 2024 - Victor "Vic" Joseph Maggitti Jr. has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

An esteemed figure in his field, Mr. Maggitti was initially inspired by his father, who had established himself in the construction industry by delivering sand and stone to concrete contractors before adding cement and lumber to their products and delving into construction himself in the mid-1950s. Helping his father with deliveries in his formative years, he pursued an education at Villanova Business School during this time, where he discovered his passion and aptitude for accounting. In 1956, he graduated from Villanova with a master's degree in accounting and decided to join his father in his business endeavors full-time. Soon thereafter, Mr. Maggitti and his father incorporated bar support into their product line upon striking an exclusive deal with the manufacturer, and expanded their delivery services to Eastern Pennsylvania and statewide throughout New Jersey, Delaware and Maryland.

In 1960, Mr. Maggitti and his father established Vimco Inc., a manufacturer and distributor of high-quality construction supplies and accessories, which includes a complete rental inventory of concrete equipment. In his position as the owner and president of Vimco, he is responsible for handling all of the accounting work in the company as well as handling invoices and corresponding with customers, some of whom have remained with Vimco since the very beginning. Having learned myriad critical business skills from his father, he has greatly emphasized the importance of employee retention over the past several decades, with 25 of their near 80 employees having been with Vimco Inc. for more than 25 years. As a result of their stellar efforts, Mr. Maggitti was able to lead Vimco Inc. to more than $52 million in annual sales in 2022.

Mr. Maggitti has strived to maintain Vimco Inc. as a family business, as he currently works alongside his son and grandson. He is a firm believer in leaving a legacy for his family and believes every achievement he has made is a result of his love for his family as well as their unwavering support for more than 65 years. In the coming years, Mr. Maggitti hopes to bring more of his children and grandchildren into the company while celebrating his 90th birthday.

In addition to his primary efforts with Vimco Inc., Mr. Maggitti has been active in various endeavors outside of his immediate circles. He has notably been a founding member of Associated Construction Distributors International since 1973, with which he was formerly appointed as the president and the head of the financial group. He has also been affiliated with the Assumption Group of Priests. Mr. Maggitti was also very active at Malvern Preparatory School, the Catholic school where his son, Victor, served as a rowing coach, and where his grandsons also graduated. One of his grandsons, Kyle, presently coaches rugby there. All of his grandsons excelled at sports, including rowing, baseball and rugby, but most importantly, they excelled in their studies, as well.

Mr. Maggitti has likewise become reputable for his donations to Malvern Preparatory School and Villanova Business School following the sale of Vimco's manufacturing arm for $37 million in 2020. He proudly donated a $750,000 statue, which is located in front of the building of St. Augustine, as well as $6 million toward the construction of a new building on campus at Malvern Preparatory School. Furthermore, he provided Villanova Business School with a $20 million donation for the building of a new library, as the existing library was an essential resource during his studies as his parents could not afford to have him live on campus. In honor of his incredible donation, Villanova's new library was named as "The Vic Maggitti Library." For the past eight years, Mr. Maggitti has held a special dinner at his home for donors of Malvern Preperatory School and The Augustinian Society who donate in excess of $25,000.

Mr. Maggitti has attributed his success in his personal and professional ventures to his faith in God, having been an altar boy for years throughout his youth. Eventually appointed to the head of the altar boys, he recited prayers in Latin and served the 10 a.m. Sunday Mass every week for four years. Mr. Maggitti values his religion to this day, attending mass with friends on a weekly basis, praying on a daily basis, and fostering his personal friendships with the priests at his local church.

Mr. Maggitti cites his outstanding reputation with Vimco Inc. is a result of his father's influence, having learned directly from his father. Among his most exceptional achievements with the company, he fondly recalls their decision to begin manufacturing bar supports directly when sales for bar supports significantly declined between 2007 and 2012. Vimco Inc. would thrive as a bar support manufacturer for years thereafter, purchasing another building with the sole focus of manufacturing until its sale in 2020.

Looking toward the future, Mr. Maggitti hopes that his peers, clients, colleagues, and employees will remember him as an honest and hard-working figure in his areas of expertise. With Vimco approaching 65 years of business corresponding with his 90th birthday, he is planning a grand celebration to commemorate such distinguished milestones. But above all, Mr. Maggitti most appreciates being an ordinary man within his community, and particularly cherishes the opportunity to attend home games of the Villanova basketball team, as well as all post-season games that Villanova plays in throughout the United States, which gives him the opportunity to host his guests around the country. Additionally, he attends Philadelphia Phillies' home games alongside his family, friends, and customers at his suite in Citizens Bank Park.
