A preeminent figure in the field of nursing, Julia Davis Rhodes exemplified excellence in her career, which spanned more than four decades. Serving at the Athens Regional Medical Center in Athens, Georgia, from 1965 until her retirement in 2003, she specialized in neurosurgical nursing. Over the course of her career, Ms. Rhodes excelled in a myriad of positions, including as a team leader of neurosurgery, a registered nurse and a surgical assistant of general and obstetric surgery. As part of her routine responsibilities, Ms. Rhodes assisted physicians in operating rooms and maintained the status of the medical center's equipment and ordered supplies. In the coming years, Ms. Rhodes intends to continue living a long, healthy life while concurrently serving her church and community in a civic capacity. She lives by the mantra, "No matter where you come from, you can accomplish something great."
Ms. Rhodes received a diploma in nursing from Piedmont Hospital in 1964, where she would later work as an operating room nurse. She subsequently became certified as a registered nurse in 1965.
