Mr. Eliason led a long and successful career in aerospace and military defense, having retired from air operations with Lockheed Martin in 1998 after over five years. During that time, he was involved in mission planning for Lockheed U-2 aircraft and NASA ER-2 aircraft and specialized in mission planning, focusing on reconnaissance missions, among other objectives.
Among other professional contributions, Mr. Eliason was affiliated with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration in collaboration with Lockheed Martin for over five years. He also served in the U.S. Air Force from 1959 to 1987. During that time, Mr. Eliason notably served in Vietnam for a year, navigating and instructing others in combat support aircraft and planning missions for aircraft navigation.
As a leader in his civic community, Mr. Eliason volunteered as a tax aid for the Internal Revenue Service. He was also a manager and baseball umpire for a local little league organization. Mr. Eliason draws satisfaction in giving back and helping others through volunteer work, which he believes benefits the community and provides opportunities for personal growth. Additionally, Mr. Eliason remains active as a member of a local golf club and the American Association of Retired Persons.
Mr. Eliason is highly educated, earning an undergraduate degree in agriculture and dairy science from Washington State University and a Master of Art in political science from Auburn University. He is also a graduate of the Air Command and Staff College. During his youth, Mr. Eliason participated as an international farm youth exchange delegate, participating in a cultural exchange program abroad in Nepal in 1957.
Mr. Eliason's military career has been highlighted with several recognitions. He was decorated with five Air Medals, two Air and Space Commendation Medals, an Expeditionary Medal for his contributions to the Cuban Crisis, a Humanitarian Service Medal, and a Vietnam Service Medal. Mr. Eliason also received an Air and Space Longevity Service Award.
