Marquis Who's Who Honors Nancy Lee Lopus for Success in Education

ESSEX FELLS, NJ, February 21, 2024 - Nancy Lee Lopus has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Ms. Lopus is a retired business education teacher who taught Personal Financial Literacy and Marketing at Northern Valley Regional High School in Demarest, New Jersey, from 2004 to 2023. Having taught various other business courses throughout her career at Lenape Valley Regional High School from 1999 to 2004 and Belleville Township High School District 201 between 1998 and 1999, she also taught English at Mount Saint Dominic Academy between 1997 and 1998. Moreover, Ms. Lopus garnered experience in higher education as an adjunct professor at her alma mater, Seton Hall University, from 1999 to 2000.

During her teaching career, Ms. Lopus achieved many accomplishments in the classroom. Most notably, she substantially developed a marketing program from just several classes to having eight sections, including Marketing 1, 2, and 3 at the honors level. In addition to expanding the program, she introduced the DECA chapter at the school, which became highly successful and won 2nd and 3rd place awards internationally before retiring.

Active with various organizations and initiatives that supported education, Ms. Lopus notably partnered with an organization that provided education for underprivileged children in Guatemala. She also became active as a volunteer with the Junior League of Montclair and Newark, New Jersey, in 1999, She has also served as a board member of the New Jersey chapter of the Virginia Tech Alumni Association. Most notably, Ms. Lopus was active civically as a U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary vessel examiner and boat crew from 2000 to 2023.

Ms. Lopus graduated with a Bachelor of Science in finance, insurance, and business law with a minor in English from Virginia Tech in 1991 and a Master of Arts in secondary education and teaching from Seton Hall University in 1998. She holds certification in business education, English, and instruction supervision through the New Jersey Department of Education, Office of Fiscal Accountability and Compliance. While in college, Ms. Lopus was inducted into the Kappa Delta Pi education honors society and became recognized as a life member of Alpha Kappa Psi professional business fraternity.

In light of her success, Ms. Lopus's school was recognized by DECA Inc. as a Gold-Medal Student-Based Enterprise for her contributions to forming a student-run school store that helped students develop their marketing skills. Additionally, she was recognized with a Governor's Teacher of the Year Award in 2022.
