To prepare for his professional journey, Dr. Shihata earned a Doctor of Medicine from Cairo University in Egypt. Over the course of his career, he has published his research in several national and international journals, including the New England Journal of Medicine and the World Journal of AIDS. He also is the co-author of "Advances in Barrier Contraceptive Devices," holds six patents in the United States and has several other patents internationally.
