Between 2000 and 2003, she saw patients as a pediatric occupational therapist with the Movement for the Intellectually Disabled of Singapore. The practice has grown to include a staff of three physical and occupational therapists, and has recently incorporated her two rescued dogs, Whiskey and River being trained as therapy dogs to provide animal assisted therapy. Dr. Krishnan considers establishing her practice, teaching and engaging in research to be her greatest professional accomplishment, and she is proud to have made a difference in the lives of her patients. She is the author of "The SI Solution: The Definitive Family Guide in Thriving During Sensory Integration Dysfunction," and has been honored with numerous academic and professional awards, including a clinical educator award from the University of Illinois 2012, and the 2020 North Carolina Occupational Therapy Association Pediatric Award. Her clinical work is rooted in play-based therapeutic approach to empower a child with the self-regulating skills and confidence to thrive in their natural environment. In her practice, she incorporates traditional therapy practices with custom, home programs tailored to the child's needs, strengths, and treatment goals. As a LEND fellow, she has participated in policy initiatives and has applied that knowledge throughout her career. She credits her success to the support from her husband and family, her ongoing love for her work, and dedication to serving patients and their families. She looks forward to continuing to expand her practice with a concierge program in the coming years.
