The survey asked 3,457 London residents to monitor their average broadband speed for 3 months; from this data only 17% retained a speed higher than 25Mbps.

The data showed that there was a wide variation in customer speeds, despite some being in the same Town or even the same street.

Before the survey commenced each resident was sent a useful guide on optimising their London broadband connection, helping to rule out hardware interference.

Heaps continues “We wanted to ensure that someone’s 5 year old laptop wasn’t the source of a poor connection, so worked with residents to maximise their speeds. As such the data is more accurate and certainly indicates that just because you are close to a City doesn’t guarantee the best broadband speeds”.
