H. Lane Dennard has been Inducted into the Prestigious Marquis Who's Who Biographical Registry

MADISON, GA, January 25, 2024 - H. Lane Dennard has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Mr. Dennard represented employers in the field of labor and employment law for over 30 years. After his retirement from King & Spalding in 2003, he served as an adjunct professor at Emory Law School, teaching an employment law class. He also taught as an adjunct professor at Mercer and the University of Georgia Law Schools.

From 2010 until 2020, he dedicated a substantial amount of time and resources to the pro bono legal representation of veterans, including assisting with service-connected disability claims before the Department of Veterans Affairs. He and his team represented veterans and their families in 48 cases, winning an estimated value of $4.35 million for his pro bono clients.

Prior to attending law school, Mr. Dennard served honorably in the United States Army as a captain and infantry company commander in the Vietnam War, earning the Silver Star for bravery, two awards of the Purple Heart, the Air Medal, and Combat Infantry Badge.

He earned a Bachelor of Arts from Mercer University in 1966, where he was president of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity; he attained a Juris Doctor from the University of Georgia School of Law in 1973.

Following his military service, Mr. Dennard joined the law firm of Ogletree Deakins in 1973 where he became managing partner in the Atlanta office. In 1991 he joined King & Spalding and retired as a senior partner in 2003. He was also co-founder and co-director of the Emory Law Volunteer Clinic for Veterans, whose mission is to assist veterans and their families with legal issues, and to pair students and volunteer lawyers for the pro bono representation of those veterans and their families.

In 2009 he co-authored "Collateral Consequences of Arrests and Convictions: Policy and Law in Georgia." The book was published by the Mercer University School of Law under a grant from the Georgia Bar Foundation.

Among his professional accomplishments, Mr. Dennard was honored with the St. Thomas More Award in 2012 for commitment to justice and humanity in difficult circumstances during his public service. He was admitted as a fellow to the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers in 2001. Emory University selected the Emory Law Volunteer Clinic for Veterans as its top student service organization and the State Bar of Georgia's Pro Bono Section awarded the Clinic its Law School Group Excellence in Access to Justice Award.

In 2015 Mr. Dennard received the Emory Law School's EPIC Inspiration Award for outstanding leadership in the public interest. He was also honored as Volunteer of the Year by the Georgia Justice Project in 2007, received the Georgia Bar's Marshall-Tuttle Award in 2011 as the Top Lawyer in the State providing pro bono services for veterans, and was listed among the Leading Labor and Employment Lawyers in Georgia by Chambers USA.
