Judy Lawrence Honored by Marquis Who's Who for Excellence in Health and Human Services

BURLINGTON, NC, January 24, 2024 - Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to honor Judy Lawrence for her dedication and achievements in the field of health and human services. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Ms. Lawrence currently serves as an integration consultant with the North Carolina Department of Public Safety, Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention. In this role since 2021, she oversees 10 core child service areas, including housing, food, education, physical health, mental and behavioral health services, and legal aid. Her daily tasks involve extensive research on new resources or opportunities to integrate services for youth receiving insurance through a Medicaid program in North Carolina.

Prior to her current role, Ms. Lawrence held several positions within the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services from 2007 to 2021. She served as a social services project manager before becoming a program administrator for the Operational Support Team. She also served as district administrator of the Guardian ad Litem program through the North Carolina Administrative Office of the Courts. Earlier in her career, from 2002 to 2003, she was an operations manager at Community Action Wayne/Medina in Ohio.

A respected voice in her industry, Ms. Lawrence completed the Leadership DHHS Class and is a sought-after public speaker on state and national webinars. Her expertise spans health and human services programs, rapid process improvement methodologies, and behavioral and mental health integration, working closely with the state Medicaid team, and being an advocate for youth and families that are traversing the complexities of the juvenile justice system.

Ms. Lawrence's academic journey began at Ohio University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in human services and family studies in 1998. Her educational background has been instrumental in her professional success. She attributes her achievements to learning to be comfortable not knowing all the answers but knowing who to go to for them, taking responsibility for her actions and consequences, and being willing to take chances. She also earned certification as a lean process improvement facilitator from North Carolina State University.

Outside of her professional life, Ms. Lawrence is a dedicated wife and pet parent of two cats. She enjoys reading drama and suspense novels, writing short stories and children's books, exercising regularly, spending time with family and friends, and singing, and is an active member of the Mebane Street Church of Christ. Her personal motto is a quote by Desmond Tutu: "There comes a point where we need to stop just pulling people out of the river. We need to go upstream and find out why they're falling in."

Looking ahead, Ms. Lawrence plans on continuing her work with the State while transitioning more towards an independent focus as she nears retirement within seven years. She completed a basic life coach certification and is furthering her training as a Coach Scholar through The Life Coaching School. Her aim is to coach others on confidence and communication, believing she can bring value in that realm. Additionally, she looks forward to spending more time with her retired husband and building a better network for youth and families in North Carolina.
