Dr. Ghalib Mannan Celebrated for Dedication to the Field of Infectious Disease Medicine

GERMANTOWN, TN, December 22, 2023 - Ghalib Mannan has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Backed by years of professional medical expertise, Dr. Mannan excels as an infectious disease physician with Mid-South Infectious Disease Associates. After doing physician rounds early in the morning in the intensive care unit, he attends new consultations, checks in with follow-up patients, and updates the management plan. Likewise, Dr. Mannan diagnoses, treats, and manages infections in all of the body's systems, serves as chairman of the Infection Control Committee, which deals with aspects related to infections for the hospital, and works in a similar role with the Antibody Stewardship Committee.

An expert in his field, Dr. Mannan earned an MD from the University of Wales College of Medicine in 1992. As a final year medical student he did an elective at the International Centre for Diarrhoeal Disease Research in Bangladesh and discovered an interest in the gastrointestinal tract. However, during his residency, a patient started vomiting blood at 1 AM, and he had to call the GI attending physician to perform an emergency endoscopy. This experience changed his course in medicine and encouraged him to pursue infectious diseases. In 1996, Dr. Mannan completed a residency in internal medicine at St. Vincent's Medical Center in Staten Island, NY before finishing his residency and a fellowship through Drexel University's College of Medicine and Hahnemann University Hospital and Medical College of Pennsylvania.

In the ensuing years, Dr. Mannan became licensed to practice in the states of Tennessee, Mississippi, and Pennsylvania and received board certification in internal medicine and infectious disease through the American Board of Internal Medicine. Driven to remain abreast of changes in the field, Dr. Mannan aligns himself with several organizations, including the American College of Physicians.

In light of his professional achievements, Dr. Mannan won a Leadership Excellence Award. Similarly, he won a Magnolia Award in 2016 and 2021 for physician excellence. While his career has been filled with highlights, he takes the most pride in managing patients, dedicating himself to his community, and serving as the co-chair of the House of Mannan Charitable Trusts in Bangladesh, which was founded by his late father in 2004. The cornerstone of his success lies in treating people how he wants to be treated himself. Looking ahead, Dr. Mannan intends to continue developing projects at Mid-South Infectious Disease Associates and with the House of Mannan Charitable Trust (HMCT).
