After more than 30 years in higher education, Dr. Light became a certified life coach, consultant, and parent empowerment coach as the founder of JoanneHLight.com in 2017. Passionate about assisting individuals facing various challenges, particularly parents, she helps guide them through the adolescent and teenage years with more confidence by offering strategies to battle stress, build resilience, understand emotional intelligence, create harmony, and overcome roadblocks. Dr. Light notably provides one-on-one and group coaching sessions, has appeared on and hosted summits, and has been featured on various podcasts including The Personal Connection, Kate Hudson Hall's "Bulimia Sucks" and "Anxiety Hacks, "Kim Martin-Raymond, Founder of Redefinding You LLC/ How Now?, Emotional Intelligence with Brittney-Nichole Connor Sevarda, Founder of Emotional Intelligence Magazine, and more. She also was a guest discussing "Resilience in Parenting Teens" on the radio show Life Mastery Radio hosted by Todd Alan and Jackie Bailey.
As part of her ongoing efforts, Dr. Light has collaborated with a group developed by Dr. Ali Lankarani, which specializes in helping parents. She was also recently recruited by Maven as a parent coach and remains active with the organization today. Maven is on a mission to make healthcare work for all of us. By improving care for women and families, they hope to build a more equitable healthcare system and a better world for all.
Dr. Light was affiliated with North Shore Community College for over three decades. More recently, she served as the institution's vice president of enrollment services from 2009 to 2013, through which she led and managed 80 individuals on several campuses and managed various aspects of enrollment, including financial aid, recruitment, and registration. Dr. Light also served as the director of enrollment and admissions during her distinguished tenure. During an earlier stage of her career, she taught Latin and Greek to high school students for over five years. Dr. Light credits her lengthy career in higher education to her ability to develop strong leadership skills and foster teamwork.
Throughout her career, Dr. Light has participated in speaking engagements and has contributed to a 2022 book titled "No-Problem Parenting™: Raising Your Kiddos with More Confidence and Less Fear." She has also contributed to an article in Authority Magazine, 'How to Raise Children Who Feel Love and Connected.' Dr. Light envisions continuously contributing to articles, biogs, and book chapters in the future and is considering writing her first book. She has been running a series via email "The Light of the Day: Growing Your Gratitude" This recently ended a 75-day run, currently compiled for publication. However, her primary objective is to reach as many parents as possible via her coaching services.
Contributing to society, Dr. Light has worked with numerous nonprofits, such as the HAWC, a local shelter that cares for women who have suffered from domestic violence. She has also volunteered at a soup kitchen and for a program that caters to underserved children. Moreover, Dr. Light has served on a local school committee for many years.
Highly educated, Dr. Light received a Bachelor of Arts in classics and classical languages, literature, and linguistics. She also garnered a Master of Art in education from the University of Massachusetts and a Doctor of Education in humanistic education and counseling from Boston University. Well-qualified in her industry, Dr. Light received certification as a life coach through the Life Purpose Institute in 2016 and designation as an emotional intelligence practitioner through The Priority Academy in 2020.
