Notably, his thesis on the United States federal budget as a reflection of national values and culture brought him into collaboration with the White House during the early years of the Reagan Administration, and he interned with the Office of Management and Budget from 1981 until 1982. Following this period, he went on to serve as a professor of finance at the University of Texas from 1987 until 1993, during which time he taught courses on estate planning and wealth management.

In time, he began teaching English to nearby villagers and soon established a vocational training center, where he assisted in the education of hundreds in mechanical engineering, food service and carpentry.

Other civic endeavors to his credit include his active status as a blood donor, his missionary work in Guatemala in 2014 and his past roles as president of the Montessori school system and the Valley Land Fund.
