Mary Ellen Eversman has been Inducted into the Prestigious Marquis Who's Who Biographical Registry

EFFINGHAM, IL, October 19, 2023 - Mary Ellen Eversman has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

After a long and successful career in social work, Ms. Eversman turned to writing, a passion that began as a child and continued through grade school and her adult life. Self-publishing all but one piece of work, her more than 20 books have notably been registered in the Library of Congress. Inspired by her many years working with children, Ms. Eversman's books have catered to aiding the youth and have generated considerable funds to support various individuals, organizations, and foundations.

Ms. Eversman's most recent books includes "Drawn Together – A Class Act" in 2022, a children's book through which all of its sales have been donated to fund Family Mental Health Support in her hometown of Effingham, Illinois. Among others, she released "The Wade Ivory Connection" in 2016 and "Mr. Dandelion Goes Flying" in 2007.

During her writing career, Ms. Eversman became involved with the Genealogical Society and the Cultural Museum. She began lecturing before both organizations about various historical topics and published a book dedicated to her accomplished cousin, "Alice Eversman, Dramatic Opera Soprano" in 2013.

Active in her church, Ms. Eversman has been involved with the Ministry of Care, which made her eligible to supplement pastoral care. She is also a Dominican Associate. Moreover, Ms. Eversman has been recognized as a longtime no-kill advocate who was instrumental in Effingham adopting a no-kill resolution in November 2022. This resolution committed to not euthanizing animals unless they become extremely sick or injured. Adding to her many animal initiatives, Ms. Eversman helped raise $40,000 to support the cause of obtaining land and a building for the Effingham County Humane Society. She also was involved in the formation of the Effingham Animal Rescue Sanctuary, a foster-based animal sanctuary where pets can reside until being permanently placed in homes.

Ms. Eversman graduated from Sacred Heart Grade School and Saint Anthony High School in Effingham. She subsequently attended Marian University, in Indianapolis, Indiana, earning a Bachelor of Arts in sociology with a minor in history in 1960. As a physically active swimmer, Ms. Eversman also received credentials as a water safety instructor. Additionally, she received certification as a reiki master. She served as voluntary Red Cross water safety chairman for Effingham County for 15 years.

Recognizing her nonpaid contributions, Ms. Eversman received a Volunteerism Award from Marian University in 1998. She attributes her success to her love for people and animals, her persistence, and to her parents, Henry L. and Gertrude M. (Stockman) Eversman, and her dedicated sociology professor, Mary T. Haugh.
