Megan R. Ellis Recognized by Marquis Who's Who

GALENA, OH, October 18, 2023 - Megan R. Ellis has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

After attending Ohio Wesleyan University (OWU), where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in economics management and psychology in 2005, Ms. Ellis went on to hold a number of roles—including program coordinator, director, and trustee and advisory board member—at numerous organizations, including the Cancer Support Community, Court Appointed Special Advocates of Franklin County, FLIP Cancer Now, and Promotions One, among others. After gaining a wealth of experience at several companies and organizations, she returned to her undergraduate alma mater in 2015, where she has since held several positions within the campus community. Ms. Ellis first worked as the administrative director of The Woltemade Center for Economics, Business, and Entrepreneurship, a position she occupied until 2018. While leading as administrative director, Ellis was instrumental in creation and opening of the Delaware Entrepreneurial Center at Ohio Wesleyan University (DEC OWU). DEC OWU is a first of its kind, entrepreneurial center bringing together partnerships between the university, city of Delaware, and Delaware County. Ellis served as the inaugural Director of DEC OWU, a position she still holds. From 2019-2022, Ellis served as the first ever executive director of OWU Career Connection and was selected into the inaugural class of the OWU Leadership Development Program. Under Ellis' leadership, Career Connection transformed the career development experience for students through personalized career communities led by industry experts.

Currently, Ms. Ellis holds the position of executive director of OWU Connection. OWU Connection is the signature student experience for Ohio Wesleyan students. OWU Connection provides innovative and strategically designed high-impact practices featuring research, service, travel, and career development. These experiences are integrated into the curriculum as a required element of the general education with the ultimate goal of preparing students to face complex challenges in the world. In her current role, she co-leads the strategic development of the signature experience, partakes in one-on-one coaching with students, and oversees nine academic and interdisciplinary OWU centers and programs including DEC OWU, the Ross Art Museum, the Arneson Institute, New York Arts Program, and more. Moreover, she collaborates with faculty to incorporate experiential learning opportunities into their curriculum and builds partnerships, both internally and externally in the surrounding community, to help foster opportunities for students as they prepare for their future. Ellis is extremely proud of the introduction of OWU Connection into the general education curriculum, which highlights OWU's commitment to and recognition of the benefits students gain from participating in experiences where they can practically apply their theoretical knowledge gained from their education.

Ms. Ellis takes great pride in being an agent of change on campus and in witnessing the successful implementation of various initiatives she has spearheaded. Her peers view her as a skilled relationship builder and motivator, who is capable of rallying support for novel concepts. Ms. Ellis has received several recognitions for her volunteer work on campus and for her involvement in the community and the entrepreneurial center. Her awards also include one for leadership on campus and for mentoring high schoolers as they first navigated the entrepreneurial world. Her involvement at OWU has led to further recognition from the city and county as a whole as well.

Ms. Ellis holds membership with the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society and the Ohio Wesleyan University Alumni Association. Furthermore, she is a member of the Women in Lean Organization; she is also an advisor for Delta Gamma Fraternity Ohio Wesleyan Alpha Rho chapter and the Ohio Wesleyan Hillel. Outside of her career, she has pursued and earned a CrossFit level 1 certification and has a Lean Yellow Belt Certification through Superior Leadership Institute. Her civic engagements include volunteering for Neighborhood Bridges and the National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA). Through her love of running, she decided to coach and help launch Girls on the Run in Central Ohio.

While contributing to the OWU community, Ms. Ellis continued on with her education and received a Master of Education in higher education administration from Penn State University in 2020. Along with acquiring a master's degree, she became certified in institutional research. In all she has pursued and accomplished thus far, she credits her success to the guidance and mentorship of the supportive individuals in her life. She feels fortunate to have such mentors, who discussed her future goals with her and coached and encouraged her to step outside her comfort zone. As an alum of OWU, Ms. Ellis experienced the strength and support of her former professors and alumni network, who ushered her into her career and led her to the position she holds today at her alma mater.

In her current role at OWU, Ms. Ellis embodies and gives the mentorship and encouragement that she received from her alumni circle. Within the next five years, she aims to continue developing her career in academic leadership and carry on her mother's legacy of dedicating her life to the advancement of higher education. To make her dreams a reality, Ms. Ellis is currently in the process of applying to a doctoral program to launch her into this next stage of her career, where she can focus on higher education leadership, specifically change leadership.
