W. Scott Erdbacher Recognized by Marquis Who's Who

SALINAS, CA, October 17, 2023 - W. Scott Erdbacher has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Mr. Erdbacher is an attorney at law whose interest in the legal profession was sparked by the influence of several lawyers throughout his family's lineage, most notably his great-great-great-great grandfather, who served as the first attorney general of Indiana, one of the first Supreme Court justices for Missouri, and, in California, as the district attorney in Monterey County and the city attorney of Salinas, among other esteemed positions. Following the receipt of a Bachelor of Arts in both German language and literature and English from Lewis & Clark College in 1972, Mr. Erdbacher went on to obtain a Juris Doctorate from the McGeorge School of Law at the University of the Pacific in 1976. Since earning his degrees, he has built a successful career in law that spans nearly 50 years.

Over the course of his career, Mr. Erdbacher has been affiliated with several firms, including Segretti, Pittman and Erdbacher; Pittman and Erdbacher; and now his own practice, W. Scott Erdbacher Attorney at Law. Alongside his own practice, he serves as the chief of the Alternate Defender Office in his county, where conflicts declared by the public defender are accepted and handled by attorneys from that office. Through his efforts as an attorney, Mr. Erdbacher has demonstrated exceptional skill and expertise in handling a range of serious felony cases, including those pertaining to gang-related offenses and murders charges. To date, he has worked to close up to 90 murder cases and is known to take a hands-on approach in defending his clients, putting in long hours to best serve them.

One of Mr. Erdbacher's most significant achievements arose from his success in handling 2 death penalty cases. Most recently, he secured a life-sentence for a defendant with the support of a fellow attorney and staff. From this experience, Mr. Erdbacher had the opportunity to attend numerous conferences and network with other attorneys specializing in death penalty cases. In all his contributions and efforts, he attributes his success to his unwavering work ethic and determination, which has earned him a reputation as a respected and accomplished attorney.

Despite facing challenges in his personal life, including a heart attack a few years back, he plans to continue his legal practice for the foreseeable future, continuing to push forward with resilience and perseverance, driven by his desire to pursue justice and ensure the wellbeing of his clients.
