JACKSONVILLE, FL, October 13, 2023 - Gregory C. DiFranza, PhD, has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Drawing motivation from a lifetime of experience with dog ownership, Dr. DiFranza has distinguished himself as the founder and chief executive officer of Kamp K-9 Jax Bch, an independent canine behavioral service. Founded in part as the result of a joke between friends, Kamp K-9 Jax Bch soon evolved to meet a real need for building more effective relationships between owners and their dogs. Since its inception as a free class in 2014, the company has since expanded to become a nationwide educational initiative regarding the nature of "pack leadership" and breaking dogs out of their most frustrating habits. In honor of his accomplishments, Dr. DiFranza is most proud to have received the Jax Chamber of Commerce Small Business Leader of the Year award in 2020 and 2023, to have been recognized as 2023's Top Entrepreneur by the Jacksonville Daily Record, and 2023 Bold City Community Choice Award for Best Pet Training.
Adjacent to his work at Kamp K-9 Jax Bch, Dr. DiFranza also serves as the president of WinFirst International Inc., an advanced police training company that boasts years of global experience. Additionally, he has found success as an independent photographer through his self-titled company, which he established in 2010 to showcase his landscape, wildlife and architectural photography. Prior to his current roles, Dr. DiFranza's career began as a deputy at the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office in 1978, where he remained active for two decades and laid a strong foundation for his future endeavors.
A prolific entrepreneur and dedicated servant on behalf of his community, Dr. DiFranza is also the owner and head instructor at First Coast Kodokan Judo, a judo club that primarily teaches students on traditional and competitive judo. Having first competed in Kodokan Judo in 1966, Dr. DiFranza went on to win various regional championships, and earned several gold, bronze and silver medals at a number of competitions, including the Florida State Police Olympics, the Sunshine State Games, the Disney World International Festival of Martial Arts, and a three time World Police & Fire Games Champion. He was also recognized in 2010 as the Pan American Heavyweight Judo Champion, among many other accolades to his credit. He holds a 4th Degree Black Belt.
Dr. DiFranza holds a PhD in adult education from La Salle University in Mandeville, Louisiana, which he received in 1997. He also earned a Master of Science and a Bachelor of Arts in Education from the same university. Moreover, he holds extensive qualifications in animal training, having volunteered as a dog handler at the Jacksonville Humane Society since 2014. Notably, he has also been invited to serve as an assistant at the ranch of César Millan, the world-famous dog trainer and star of "Dog Whisperer with Cesar Millan." Throughout the course of his career, Dr. DiFranza's academic background has been instrumental in shaping his overall success, both in animal care and as an educator.
