She also leveraged her expertise as a senior advisor program manager of technology infrastructure and managing professor of online programs at Argosy University from 2009 to 2016. Among other noteworthy roles, Dr. Wattley provided her services in a consultant capacity.
Besides her professional goals at Hush Cyber LLC, Dr. Wattley has been active in the classroom. In addition to serving as a professor at Unity College since 2019, she has been an assistant professor of technical instructional design at the University of Washington since 2020 and an adjunct professor at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology since 2020. As a scholar and expert in her field, Dr. Wattley has authored many professional cybersecurity articles, including 'Start with the One in the Mirror! An avid leader in her community like her great uncle Dr. Benjamin Elijah Mays, senior advisor and spiritual mentor to Rev Dr Martin Luther King Jr and advisor to Presidents Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon and Ford, Dr. Wattley has notably served as a national media spokesperson for AdoptUsKids.org, National Adoption Association, advocating and encouraging everyone to help find forever families for children since 2004 and JustPennies.Org, an organization dedicated to social change through education in technology and cybersecurity related fields. She has also served as a board member for organizations that support youth development like the Atlanta Girls' Choir founded by Daryl & Magg Wattley, Kampus Insights, A Plus Enrichment Services and Studio X Elite Dance Company, also as a Georgia representative as president for the National Young Leaders Conference in Washington, D.C.
Highly educated, Dr. Wattley completed a course of study in Portuguese at the Universidad de Coimbra in Portugal. She subsequently graduated with distinction earning a bachelor's degree in Spanish language and literature from the Universidad de Valladolid in Spain and a second Bachelor of Education and Bachelor of Arts in Spanish, Language, and Literature & Education from Iowa State University of Science and Technology on a full academic scholarship. Moreover, Dr. Wattley completed a Master of Science in Adult Learning and Leadership and a Doctor of Education in Administrative Leadership from Walden University. She speaks Spanish, Portuguese, French, and English fluently. To remain aware of developments in her field, Dr. Wattley has been a board member of the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages.
Dr. Wattley has received several awards for her work in education, including being named as the External Partner Engagement Coordinator of Year, as the Georgia Cyber Academy's Teacher of the Year, and as Radio One of Atlanta's Community Teacher of the Year. She also earned numerous accolades for her educational accomplishments, including more than 40 academic trophies and being named as the Iowa State University of Science and Technology's Ronald E. McNair Scholar and Researcher. Dr. Wattley credits her success to her Christian faith in God, her parents Rev. Tyrone Hicks, a retired federal agent and Janice Hicks, retired Teacher of the Year, brothers Darius Hicks in physical security and Jarrett Hicks, IBM cybersecurity professional, and her husband, Dr. Maceo D. Wattley, a cybersecurity professional, for introducing her to the industry, her 6 children Krissy, Zanny, Austin, Sean, Kaylee, and Avi Maceo Cello as well her 18 godchildren Tyre, Todd, Tarjai, Chase, Gage, Bryson, Brayden, Corey, Laila, Tanya, Shandi, Arya, Sejal, Navya Angélica, Camila, Omar and Josiah.
