Malene A. Golding has been Inducted into the Prestigious Marquis Who's Who Biographical Registry

MANVEL, TX, October 05, 2023 - Malene A. Golding has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

A skilled literacy consultant with more than two decades of excellence in reading education, Mrs. Golding has earned distinction as the chief executive officer and educational consultant with her own firm, Golding Touch Education Consulting LLC. Since 2019, she has focused her efforts on providing coaching and professional development sessions for teachers across the state of Texas and beyond. During the pandemic, Golding Touch hosted a virtual symposium for educators, training teachers in the United States, Canada, the Caribbean, and Asia. Additionally, she has lent her expertise as an adjunct professor for the University of Houston-Clear Lake College of Education since 2018, teaching preservice teachers' courses on effective reading and writing instruction. She is also an independent contractor for Stenhouse Publishers, reviewing manuscripts for diversity, equity and inclusion regarding representation and teaching practices as well as identifying any instances of offensive content, stereotypes or bias in the material.

Prior to establishing her consulting company, Mrs. Golding began her career as an adult education teacher for the Houston READ Commission, teaching adult English as a second language courses, and served as a classroom teacher from 1998 until 2005 in Houston, Texas. During this time, she also lent her expertise as a faculty advisor to Teach for America in 2003 for a year and served as a master reading teacher from 2002 until 2008. While in the latter role, she also served as a reading intervention teacher and professional development coordinator for Rufus Cage Elementary School, teaching pre-kindergarten through fifth grade students as well as overseeing the accelerated reading instruction program for the school.

Mrs. Golding continued her career as a literacy content specialist for the Houston ISD Central Region Office in 2008, providing professional development, coaching and literacy leadership to teachers in the district. She subsequently served as an instructional specialist for the Houston ISD East Field Office until being promoted to a teacher development specialist in 2011 and to a manager of teacher development specialists in 2012. In 2014, she became a manager for the Houston ISD Elementary Reading Curriculum and Development Department, rising to a role as the director of elementary literacy in 2018.

Malene is an active member of the Texas Association for Literacy Education (TALE) where she has served as board president in 2018. She served on the TALE board from 2017 to 2020 promoting literacy that will enhance the lives of all Texas citizens personally, socially, and economically. In 2020, she served as one of the founding members of the Greater Houston Association for Literacy Education (GHALE) providing virtual theme focused read aloud with guided writing tasks and sponsoring local barbershops for the Barbershop Books initiative.

To prepare for her professional journey as an educator, Mrs. Golding earned a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of Houston in 1997. Following this achievement, she attained a Master of Education in reading and language arts from the same institution in 2002. Well-qualified in her field, she holds Texas Educator Certification in the following areas: Master Reading Teacher (EC-12), Reading Specialist (EC-12), English as a Second Language (EC-12), Elementary Early Childhood (PK-6), Elementary Self-Contained and Elementary English.

Looking to the future, Mrs. Golding intends to engage more in professional development and provide professional development and coaching to teachers in different states aside from Texas, outside of the United States and internationally. As part of this effort, she plans to publish books for teachers, focusing on educational theory and how to put it into effective teaching practice. Simplifying reading and writing instruction for teachers and students is one of her passions.
