Mr. Rasic designs, renovates, restores, and adapts spaces to foster sustainable, happy, healthy, productive environments where people live, work, and play. He is managing partner at Janko Rasic Architects, PLLC based in New York City. Originally founded by his father as Janko Rasic Architect in 1968, today Janko Rasic Architects, PLLC is a full-service architecture, interior design, and project management firm with satellite studios in the Hudson Valley and on the East End of Long Island. Mr. Rasic has extensive experience in the design and execution of diverse commercial, institutional, and residential projects. To realize these projects, he credits successful collaboration with his clients, fellow team members, consultants, and contractors. Clients include foreign governments, building owners and developers, not-for-profits, financial institutions, Fortune 500 companies, and private individuals. Mr. Rasic is also a founding partner at Hill & Valley Properties, LLC which renovates and repositions properties in Hudson Valley.

As the son of an architect, he was exposed to the profession at an early age. In high school and college, he spent summers working in construction and commercial real estate laying the foundation for what would become his career in architecture. Growing up in New York City he was always intrigued by the built environment, the urban density and the frenetic energy of the city. Now living in Garrison and Quogue, New York, Mr. Rasic enjoys spending time outdoors and is passionate about the environment. He appreciates the rugged landscape of the Hudson Highlands and the ocean and sandy beaches of Long Island which serve as an inspiration and inform his architectural work.

Mr. Rasic first joined the firm in 1994 and in 1996 left to pursue an advanced degree in architecture. While in graduate school, he continued to consult with the firm and worked in the offices of Butler, Rogers, Baskett and Fox and Fowle Architects. Upon graduation, he rejoined Janko Rasic Architects and was named partner in 2008.

Mr. Rasic earned a Master of Architecture degree from the Parsons School of Design in 1999 where he was awarded the American Institute of Architects Certificate of Merit and the American Institute of Architects / American Architectural Foundation Scholastic Award. He is a registered Architect in the States of New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and Florida and has been certified by the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards. Prior to that, he attended Hamilton College and earned a Bachelor of Arts in History with a minor in Spanish in 1994. Mr. Rasic is also a Certified Passive House Consultant, a Fitwel Ambassador, and a Living Future accredited professional. His professional affiliations include the American Institute of Architects, Passive House Alliance US, Internal Living Future Institute, and the Real Estate Board of New York.

Much of the practice is focused on the renovation and adaptive reuse of existing structures. His restoration of the Art Deco lobby of the North Court Building in White Plains, NY, was recognized with the Award of Excellence by Society of American Registered Architects New York Council.

His career has been filled with many interesting projects and clients. Some projects of note include: Drom Fragrances International's state-of-the-art fine fragrance showroom and laboratory housed in an 1880's cast-iron building in the Tribeca neighborhood of Manhattan; the adaptive-reuse and transformation of the historic Parrot House and Plumbush Inn & Restaurant listed on the National Historic Register of Historic Places into the Manitou School in Cold Spring, NY; the restoration and conversion of a 29,000 square foot townhouse located in the Carnegie Hill Landmark District on Manhattan's Upper Estate Side into a private residence; a new building at Stonecrop Gardens known as the Gardener's Bothy, which serves as an interpretive welcome center for the public garden located in Cold Spring, NY.

Outside of work, Mr. Rasic believes in finding time to give back to the community. For a number of years, he served as a trustee and Co-Chair of the Sustainability and Building & Grounds Committees at the Desmond Fish Public Library in Garrison, NY, and oversaw a new landscape master plan for the library's 13 acres. He recently joined the board of the Quogue Historical Society. Since 1990, he has also volunteered as a Class Agent for The Taft School.

The cornerstone of his professional and personal success lies in his parents, who instilled in him a strong work ethic and character. Looking ahead, Mr. Rasic intends to continue to learn, develop and hone his skills working towards a more sustainable future.
